Our work with the Department for International Trade saw us raise awareness of the support available for would-be exporters and businesses seeking opportunities in overseas markets, driving enquiries towards the DIT.

We adopted the tactic of promoting the services of the DIT by utilising its many successes across the North East – focusing on the quirky businesses doing something “different” and the companies with distinct human interest stories behind them, such as Pedibal, the owner of which started by creating a bike for his grandson; Big Little Toys, who created an Elf for Christmas; and Craft Yourself Silly, a North East crafting firm that had established an international reputation for its creativity.

We focused on reinforcing the view that the region is a hive of creative, skilled people, breaking into new markets across the globe. Creo now promotes the DIT’s ERDF support programmes underpinning these firms’ overseas aspirations and signposts interested parties to the organisation’s support, guidance and advice.
